Google Does The PageRank Shuffle
What seems odd with this update is that established White Hat sites have lost PR whereas newer or Black Hat sites seem to have done pretty well. If youre not familiar with those terms, White Hat refers to sites that are built to provide quality content for visitors and are built and added to over time. Black Hat sites are built in a day (or less) and are made up of RSS feeds, scraped content and/or free or PLR articles. Black Hat sites are designed to make money from Adsense and/or affiliate marketing. The idea is not to worry about the quality of any one site but to build 10s, 100s or 1000s of them. While each site may only make between $0.20 and $0.50 per day on average, having lots of em means the money adds up. | |

Domain Name Investing
The same concept now applies to virtual real estate - domain names. You can pick up an expired domain for $8 or $9. Some simple checks will tell you if the domain has some value - if it's getting traffic from the search engines, how many sites link to it and so on. Maybe it even has a website attached. You can resell the domain for a profit, and sometimes a very healthy one. Or you can register a completely new domain. Pick the right keyword combination and it may be very appealing to a buyer. Again you could resell for a healthy profit. The time of the domain name investor has arrived. These are people who are building portfolios of domains like some people have portfolios of real-world properties. There's only about 100,000 of them in the world. It's an emerging market and one worth looking into. Earlier this year, I bought a video tutorial series called Domain Profiteer. It cost $97. But what I didn't realise was that the system outlined relied on picking up expired domains from the aftermarket, domain that were being auctioned off. To find those domains required subscribing to a service that cost $97 per month, plus the domain name purchase fees. It worked out to be too expensive for my tastes and I dropped the service after a couple of months. The videos were worth a look though and they introduced me to the world of domain name investing. Roll the clock forward to September 2007 when, literally ny accident, I stumbled across another video tutorial series about domain name investing. At just $47 ($37 if you take advantage of the $10 discount coupon) it has proven to be the best video titorial series I've ever watched. If only all video tutorials were this good. It explains everything you need to know to get started in domain name investing - what it's about, where to find expired domains, the best way to create new domains and where to register them, how to test if a domain is worth keeping and return it for a refund within 5 days if it doesn't work out, how to sell domain names on ebay and easily transfer ownership, how to evaluate what a domain name is worth and where to sell you domains (other than on ebay). I've been using the techniques outlined and haven't lost any money on domains that I later realised weren't a good investment, simply by returning them for a refund.
