Make Money With Google Adwords
Do any kind on search on http://www.google.com and you'll get a list of websites that match the search terms you type in. But you'll also get a number of ads down the right side of
the screen that relate to your search terms as well. These ads were created through Google Adwords and they're used by advertisers the world over to promote their products and services.
Google is, in fact, broken into two networks - the search network and the content network. The search network is what's used to display the results of searches. The content network is all the websites that display Google Ads (you see them
everywhere these days). Ads on the content network are known as Adsense ads.
Google Adwords
In order to advertise on Google, it's necessary to open a (free) Google Adwords account. This lets you create ads that become visible throughout their networks. Advertisers select a number of keywords that relate to their product or
service and bid on those keywords. How high a bid is in relation to other bids for the same keywords determines the ranking of an ad. Getting an ad anywhere into the top 8 for a keyword ensures that the ad is displayed on the first page of search results.
Making money with Google Adwords is down simple economics: the aggregate cost of the clicks you receive against the money you make from the product or service you're promoting. If the click cost is higher you lose money. If it's lower you're in
profit. If you don't advertise, you don't make any money.
Affiliate marketers use Google Adwords as well to promote programs that they can earn a commission on. It's a matter of finding a program that provides commissions that outweigh the cost of the ad clicks. A great deal of money can be made this way
and some of the products below will take you step-by-step through the this process of affiliate marketing.
Google Adsense
Adsense ads are contextual. That means that Google analyses the content of a webpage and decides what ads to display based on the keywords selected by the advertiser for that ad. (Webmasters don't have any control over what
ads appear on their websites beyond specifying a list of web addresses to ignore so that competitors' ads don't appear on their pages).
If you'd like to know how to go about adding Adsense to your pages, read this article
While webmasters try to maximise the revenue they earn from Google Adsense ads by building pages with relevant content around researched keywords, advertisers also need to carefully select what keywords they use in order to trigger the display of
their Google Adwords ads. Badly selected keywords can mean an ad appears to frequently or on the wrong types of pages and the clicks can mount up. While that's great for the webmaster, it's not great for the advertiser.
Badly selected keywords in a Google Adwords campaign can eat up an advertising budget real fast. And, while you're getting people to come to your website to see what you have to offer, they may actually be interested in the product
you're promoting. Advertisers need to bring in people who are looking for the product being promoted so that they get the biggest bang for their advertising buck.
Keyword Selection
Consequently, proper keyword research is paramount to a successful and properly controlled Google Adwords campaign. Some good research can be done using Google's keyword suggestion too or the Overture Keyword Selector Tool. The Overture tool provides counts of the number of searches in the last month on the keywords suggested by the tool. The trick
is to find keywords that no one else is using, keywords that are searched for often enough to be useful and not expensive enough to be precluded from your keyword list.
You can go beyond that if you're serious about marketing with Google Adwords. But you will need dedicated software tools for that job. Such tools typically provide a list of suggested keywords for your initial keyword, the number of searches on both
Google and Overture for those keywords, the number of websites providing results for the keywords so you can see what keywords are worth investigating further because they have a high demand (number of searches) and low supply (not too many
websites providing information).
In addition, such software will also tell you how many ads appear on Google and Yahoo for each keyword and the maximum bid prices for each keyword. Armed with that information you can determine what keywords not to use due to stiff competition
as well as what keyword to use based on a combination of ad competition and bid price.
Adwords Analyzer is what I use and it is literally invaluable. Not only does it provide all the above information, but it will return 100 similar keywords with that information neatly
tabulated in just a matter of minutes. The amount of time saved doing research this way as opposed to manually is incalculable. I woundn't be without it.
For the general webpage, there are guides that will advise you on the best way to display Adsense ads on your pages in order to maximise the clicks you get from Adsense and therefore increase your earnings.
Below, you'll find a list of the best products for marketing with Google Adwords. All are highly recommended, having being researched and tested. Those products that didn't make the grade have been excluded.
